1/22/10 ACUTE Innovations® is Awarded a U.S. Patent for the RibLoc® Rib Fracture Plating System
Hillsboro, OR- (January 22, 2010) - ACUTE Innovations® LLC is announcing the issuance of another patent on its innovative RibLoc® Rib Fracture Plating System. The system has redefined the way rib fractures are treated. The RibLoc system was awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,635,365 on Dec. 22, 2009. Moreover, claims also have been allowed on a subsequent patent application that should issue soon as another U.S. patent.
The RibLoc Rib Fracture Plating System was designed as a comprehensive system of implants specifically for stabilizing multiple rib fractures, fracture non-unions and chest wall deformities. The RibLoc system is different from any other system in the industry because of its unique patented U-shape with locking screw technology that provides excellent fixation and quick installation. Unlike anterior flat plates, the RibLoc system does not rely on fixation into weak rib bone for its strength. Instead, the RibLoc system's screws engage the posterior aspect of the plate and rib to provide added stability.
The RibLoc system was initially developed at Oregon Health and Science University in 2001 and began clinical use in 2005. Since then, the system has provided an easily repeatable stable solution for rib fracture repair to thousands of surgeons and their patients.
ACUTE Innovations' RibLoc system is CE Marked and is currently being sold worldwide. Foreign patent applications are pending, and two foreign patents have already been granted (GB2423935 and GB2435429).
